Overview
The cheapest way to stop a house absorbing heat.
Dark stucco and dark roofing behave like a storage heater. They absorb solar energy all afternoon and release it into the structure through the evening — which is precisely when California electricity is most expensive under time-of-use rates.
Solar-reflective coatings change the surface physics. A high-albedo elastomeric coating reflects most incoming solar radiation and emits absorbed heat quickly instead of holding it. On a flat roof the surface temperature difference can be 50°F or more on a hot day.
What we include
Cool Paint Coatings services we provide
Elastomeric roof coatings
Seamless reflective membranes for flat and low-slope roofs, which also seal minor cracks and extend the life of the existing roof.
Reflective exterior wall coatings
High-albedo, high-emissivity paint systems for stucco and siding in colors that do not look institutional.
Surface preparation and repair
Pressure washing, crack repair, patching and priming. Coatings only perform if what is underneath is sound.
Tile and shingle roof treatments
Reflective treatments compatible with existing tile and composition roofs where full replacement is not on the table.
Color and reflectance consulting
We match SRI values to your goals and your HOA rules, and show you the trade-off between color and performance.
Warranty-backed systems
Manufacturer-warranted products, applied at the specified mil thickness, with documentation of what went on.

In detail
Where cool coatings make the biggest difference
Flat and low-slope roofs first — they take the most direct sun and usually sit over living space with minimal insulation. Then west-facing walls, which absorb heat through the worst part of the afternoon.
Coatings work best as part of a package. A reflective roof over an uninsulated, unventilated attic still helps, but the same money spent on coating plus attic insulation and ventilation does considerably more.
We will tell you honestly when a coating is the wrong tool — for example on a failing roof that needs replacement, where a coating just buys time at the expense of a proper fix.
